A Ritual of Candlelight

A candle brings warmth and atmosphere to a space. With a little care and attention, each burn becomes a more beautiful experience.

From the first light to the last

The ritual, step by step.

Step 1: The First Light

Begin with intention.

A candle’s first burn lays the groundwork for its life ahead. Give the wax time to melt across the entire surface before extinguishing. This helps establish a consistent burn and minimizes wax left along the sides of the vessel.

Step 2: The Wick

A steady flame begins here.

Before each use, trim the wick to approximately ¼ inch. A well-maintained wick encourages a steady flame, helps limit excess smoke and soot, and supports a more consistent burn.

Step 3: The Art Of The Burn

Let the fragrance emerge.

Allow your candle to burn for two to four hours at a time, giving the warmth time to release its fragrance throughout the room. Fragrance unfolds gradually as the wax warms. Never exceed the recommended burn time.

Step 4: The Space Around The Flame

Let the flame breathe.

Choose a level, heat-resistant surface for your candle, away from drafts, open windows, and flammable materials. Keep it away from direct sunlight and other heat sources. Never leave a burning candle unattended.

Step 5: A Gentle Ending

End the moment with care.

Use a candle snuffer to extinguish the flame. Do not blow it out, as this can create excess smoke and cause hot wax to splatter. Let the candle cool completely before moving the vessel.

Step 6: Before The Next Light

Prepare for the next lighting.

Allow the wax to cool before removing any wick trimmings or debris from the surface. Before lighting again, check that the wick stands upright in the center. Handle the vessel with care, as it may still be warm.

Step 7: The Final Light

Every candle has its ending.

For safety, stop burning the candle when about ½ inch of wax remains at the bottom, or when the wick sustainer becomes visible. Continuing to burn the candle beyond this point can cause the vessel to overheat.

Step 8: Beyond The Flame

Let its story continue.

Once the candle has cooled completely, remove the remaining wax and clean the vessel thoroughly. Give it a new purpose as a holder for small essentials or a place for a treasured object.
